Environmental Studies: Concentration in Earth Science

Environmental Studies majors must fulfill the following requirements:

I. Required courses in the major—19–22 hours:

Two courses from:

II. Required courses outside the major—13–16 hours:

CHEM 132 - General Chemistry (3) or
Satisfactory score on Chemistry Placement Examination
CHEM 111 - General Chemistry Laboratory (1)
CHEM 145 - Quantitative Chemistry Laboratory (1)
CHEM 236 - General Chemistry II (3)

Two courses from:

MATH 167 - Precalculus (4)
MATH 191 - Calculus I (4)
MATH 192 - Calculus II (4)
STAT 185 - Introductory Statistics (4)
Calculus is recommended for students planning to attend graduate school.

III. Special departmental requirements—29–36 hours:

Completion of the concentration outlined below. The senior demonstration of competency is satisfied by the completion of ENVR 330 and ENVR 490 with a C or better. Completion of ENVR 330 fulfills the all-university oral competency requirement. Completion of ENVR 241 and ENVR 330 fulfills the all-university computer competency requirement.

Concentration in Earth Science—31–33 hours distributed as follows:

15-17 hours of Earth Science electives chosen from:
