Biology: Concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Requirements for All Biology Majors:

I. Required courses in the major—18–19 hours including:

Either:

BIOL 480 - Senior Seminar (3) or
BIOL 498 - Undergraduate Research in Biology (2-3)

Additional Information:

Individuals who are seeking teacher licensure should complete EDUC 456 in place of BIOL 480 or 498.

II. Required courses outside the major—16–19 hours including:

CHEM 111 - General Chemistry Laboratory (1)
CHEM 132 - General Chemistry (3) (or placement)
CHEM 145 - Quantitative Chemistry Laboratory (1)
CHEM 231 - Organic Chemistry I (3)
CHEM 236 - General Chemistry II (3)
MATH 191 - Calculus I (4)
STAT 185 - Introductory Statistics (4)

III. Other departmental requirements:

Major, oral, and computer competencies are satisfied by completion of BIOL 480 or BIOL 498 , or EDUC 456 , with a grade of C or higher.

Concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology—30–33 hours, including:

Three courses from:

One course from either:

BIOL 338 - Mammalian Physiology (4) or
BIOL 345 - Plant Physiology (4) or
BIOL 455 - Principles of Animal Physiology (4)

And:

Either

BIOL 444 - Biological Biochemistry (4)
or both
CHEM 222 - Organic Chemistry Laboratory (2) and
CHEM 232 - Organic Chemistry II (3)
