ECE 200 - Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering Laboratory

An introduction to EE including: Ohm’s law and Kirchoff’s laws; circuits with resistors, photocells, diodes and LEDs; rectifier circuits; and, first order RC circuits. An introduction to signal processing including: periodic signals in time and frequency domains, instantaneous, real and apparent power; DC and RMS value; magnitude and power spectra, dB, dBW, and operational amplifier circuits. An introduction to analog signal processing systems including amplification, clipping, filtering, addition, multiplication, AM modulation sampling and reconstruction. There will be a weekly hardware laboratory utilizing multimeters, function generators, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, and custom hardware for experiments on various circuits and systems. Prerequisite: grade of C- or better in MATH 192 and PHYS 221; cumulative GPA of at least 2.50. Pre- or corequisites: MATH 291 and PHYS 222. Fall.
