I. Required courses in the major—28 hours:
Students whose level of proficiency does not allow them to start with FREN 300 will be required to complete appropriate prerequisite courses prior to beginning at the 300-level. At least one-half of the hours required for the major must be completed at UNC Asheville. Three courses at the 400-level
II. Required courses outside major—None
IV. Other departmental requirements:
Competency in French will be demonstrated by a capstone project consisting of research plus oral and written presentations on French language, literature or civilization, to be carried out in one of the 400-level courses, as approved by the Department Chair. Oral competency will be tested after completion of FREN 300. Students must demonstrate satisfactory oral competency before undertaking the capstone project. Liberal Arts Core (LAC)
