SPAN 346 - Oral History and Testimonio (4)

What are some common immigrant stories? Who tells immigrant stories? What changes when immigrants and refugees are given the opportunity to tell their own stories? (Im)migration, the movement of people, is among the most pressing global issues of our time. This course addresses our need to be informed about current and past immigration patterns in the United States and abroad through the lens of oral history. This mode of inquiry is ideal for the context of the course and will empower students to engage with local immigrant communities to provide voice to their experiences and expand our understanding of the implications of immigration at this time in history.
