SPAN 342 - Film Studies (4)

During the semester, we will concentrate on a selection of Latin American and Spanish film directors. We will watch a series of films (or excerpts) from each of them to appreciate unique aspects of their style. On the one hand, the course will facilitate the tools for aesthetic analysis. On the other hand, we will work on the movies’ relationship with their production times. To capture the zeitgeist of contexts from the 1930s to the present, we will work with cultural manifestos, narrative, fiction, and non-fiction. Other forms of visual arts such as photography and painting will also be discussed. This course fulfills the Arts requirement of the Core Curriculum. See department chair.
