PSYC 349 - Adult Development and Aging (4) A comprehensive survey of multidirectional and multidimensional development from emerging adulthood through older adulthood. The study of human development has historically focused on the early years of life, giving little attention to the various changes that occur across adulthood. An interdisciplinary approach will be used for teaching theory and empirical research findings of change across adulthood. In addition, students in the course will engage in service work that addresses the needs of the older adult population in Buncombe County and surrounding areas. The collaborative service project is incorporated throughout the course. Students will learn about community needs of the older adult population and will have opportunities for intergenerational learning. Lastly, students will develop a holistic and realistic understanding of aging across adulthood. Prerequisites: PSYC 100 and 201. PSYC 214 and 310 are recommended. Fall.
