Modern Language Licensure (K–12)

Candidates must complete a major in Languages and Literatures with a concentration in French, German or Spanish and complete other licensure requirements. (See the Languages and Literatures section of the catalog.) See appropriate Education advisor for details.

I. Required courses in Education—29 hours, including:

EDUC 210 - Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century, K-12 (3)
EDUC 211 - Instructional Technology for Educational Settings, K-12 (1)
EDUC 303 - Introduction to ed Teacher Performance Assessment (2)
EDUC 316 - Practicum in Teaching Foreign Languages, K–12 (3)
EDUC 346 - Teaching Students with Diverse Needs in the General Education Classroom (3)
EDUC 430 - Lesson Planning and Classroom Management (3)
EDUC 433 - K-12 World Language Teaching Methods (2)
EDUC 455 - Student Teaching and Seminar (10)
EDUC 456 - The Teacher as a 21st Century Professional, K-12 (2)

II. Required courses outside Education—8 hours, including:

PSYC 319 - Educational Psychology (4)
PSYC 328 - The Psychology of Language (4)

Recommended elective:

ANTH 100 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (4) or
SOC 352 - Social Movements and Democracy (4)
