ARTH 315 - Egyptian Art and Architecture (4)


Surveys ancient Egypt from the development of the first monumental art and architecture in the Early Dynastic period (c.3000 BCE) to its demise during the first centuries of the Early Christian era (c. 300 CE). It focuses on the role of visual representation and the relationship of ancient Egyptian arts to its culture, examines patronage, creative processes, and the role of women, and uses diverse scholarly publications to discuss Egyptian art within its historical, political, social, and religious setting.
