Examines modern society and culture as represented by modern film. Themes vary (crime, violence, family, work, education, immigration, technology), and with the help of course readings, we seek to shed light not only on the particular theme but also on what it means to talk about the modern world, and what this condition entails for the people we encounter in the film and the people and citizens the film characters represent.
