HIST 389 - The Modern Middle East

Examines the political, social and economic history of the Middle East from the 18th to the 21st century. The course will focus on the decline of the Ottoman Empire, European colonialism, the rise of Arab Nationalism, the Arab-Israeli conflict, authoritarian regimes, political Islam, and the Arab Spring.
