HIST 334 - Modern Latin American History

A thematic approach to the study of Latin American independence and the modern period. The social, political, economic, and environmental history of these former Spanish and Portuguese colonies is emphasized. Primary and secondary literature (translated) are employed to explore the daily lives of the inhabitants of the region in order to raise student awareness of the region’s wide variety of cultures.
